Graduate Studies in Critical Cartography, Human Geography, and Web Mapping -- Geospatial Knowledge and Practice

graduate study

My scholarship bridges political and cultural geography, science and technology studies (STS) and cartography/GIS. I am a social theorist and political philosopher by training. I now investigate the geographical context of mapping practices, with particular focus on power, spatial knowledge, and emerging information technologies.man standing on beach

I started my PhD degree program in Geography in Fall of 2006 at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. I work with Professor Kaiser and Professor Harrower of the Department of Geography.

I am studying to be a human geographer and cartographer, as well as the use of Geographical Information Systems (GIS) for spatial analysis. My work draws heavily from social theory and the philosophy of science and retains a high degree of theoretical critique. My PhD minor is in Science and Technology Studies (STS).

Below is a summary of my current research interests and my graduate coursework at UW-Madison.
